Introducing The Tie Up Bag

Made with a love of textiles. Designed for everyday life.

Hi, I'm Vicki — the founder of The Tie Up Bag.

I've spent most of my career surrounded by textiles, design and making. After studying Textile Design (BSc Hons), I went on to work across the retail and fashion industry, gaining experience in everything from creative design and sourcing to manufacturing, merchandising and retail.

That experience eventually led me to start my own business.

From Harris & Home to The Tie Up Bag

Around 15 years ago, after my second child was born and our family moved from Manchester to Cambridge, I took the opportunity to turn my love of textiles and sewing into a business.

That business became Harris & Home — a successful small independent brand specialising in handmade textiles and homewares.

Over the years, Harris & Home has grown into an established business, selling through our own website and Etsy and building a wonderful community of customers along the way.

Where the idea began

The idea for The Tie Up Bag actually came from my daughter.

A couple of years ago, when she started university, she told me that all she used was a tote bag — but there was one problem. Everything always ended up at the bottom.

She suggested that I should make bags and tote bags, and the idea stuck.

I started thinking about all those little things that disappear into the bottom of a tote — lip balm, EarPhones, keys, chargers, make-up — and how useful it would be to have something simple to keep them together.

And so, The Tie Up Bag was born.

Designed to be useful. Made to be loved.

The Tie Up Bag is all about combining practicality with personality.

Each bag is designed here in the UK and handmade in small batches using carefully chosen fabrics and contrasting linings. From the little Organiser Bag to the Beauty Bag and the everyday Tote, every piece is made to be useful, reusable and easy to take with you.

The Cambridge Edit is our first collection — inspired by the city I've called home for so many years, and the different moods, colours and character you'll find here.

Small business. Small batches. Lots of making.

There's no big factory behind The Tie Up Bag. It's a small, independent business, and I make each bag myself in small batches.

That means I can pay attention to the details, choose fabrics I genuinely love and keep creating new combinations as inspiration strikes.

It's also why there may be small variations in fabric placement and finish from one bag to another. They're handmade, not mass-produced — and that's exactly how I like it.

Thank you for being here and supporting a small British business.
